L’hommage poignant de Jeffrey Dean Morgan à la nouvelle victime de The Walking Dead

Derrière sa batte recouverte de fil de fer barbelé, Negan cache en vérité un grand cœur. Attention, spoilers.

L’épisode “Honor” de la saison 8 de The Walking Dead était une nouvelle occasion pour tous les fans de sortir les Kleenex. Avec la mort de Carl, la série zombiesque tourne une page importante de son histoire, s’éloignant considérablement des comics et perdant en chemin un personnage essentiel à son univers. L’équipe du show a conscience que cette perte est une profonde blessure, notamment pour les acteurs qui ont vu grandir et s’épanouir sur le plateau Chandler Riggs, le jeune interprète du fils de Rick.

L’un d’entre eux a particulièrement tenu à lui rendre un dernier hommage vibrant : Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Une volonté de sa part qui pourrait surprendre quand on sait qu’il incarne le terrible Negan. Mais derrière Lucille et sa veste en cuir, Jeffrey Dean Morgan est un véritable nounours plein d’affection et de sentiments pour son entourage. Nous avons pris l’initiative de traduire son message d’adieu très touchant adressé à Chandler Riggs, et publié sur son compte Instagram.

SPOILER (for the six people that are somehow in the dark... and get news from Instagram?) @chandlerriggs5 man.... what a pleasure. Not only getting to work with you... but, getting to know you. You, my friend, are an incredible young man. Well before joining this cast I was a fan... a fan that loved watching you grow up in front of a camera. From the moment you first put on the way too large sheriffs hat as a boy... to the end, the hat so befitting of the man Carl had become. Wiser and more compassionate than all of us. You held all of our hearts. Honestly... a huge reason I wanted so badly to join this band of misfits... was because I was such a fan of the Negan Carl relationship in the comics... that storyline was one of my favorites, as I know it was one of yours. I’ll forever be dissaponted we only scratched the surface of what could have been. BUT... I can take total solace in the fact that you are out there... doing your thing. You’ve grown into an amazing young man as well as a powerful actor... the world is your oyster Riggs. We all get to sit back and watch you kill it. So.. know you are missed on the show... but know you have a big ole group of family all here for you if needed... and eagerly awaiting whatever comes next. Love you Riggs. See you soon.

Désormais, le chapeau convient parfaitement à l’homme que Carl est devenu, plus sage et plus altruiste que nous tous. Tous nos cœurs t’appartiennent. Sincèrement, l’une des raisons qui m’a poussé à rejoindre ce groupe de marginaux est la relation entre Carl et Negan dans les comics, dont j’étais fan. Cette intrigue était l’une de mes préférées, comme je sais qu’elle l’était pour toi.

Je serai à jamais déçu d’avoir seulement effleuré ce que tu aurais pu devenir. Mais je trouverai du réconfort en me disant que tu n’es pas loin, en train de faire ton truc à toi. Tu es devenu un jeune homme incroyable ainsi qu’un acteur puissant. Le monde est à toi, Riggs. Nous devons tous nous asseoir et te regarder le saisir.

Sache que tu manqueras à la série mais qu’une grande famille est là pour toi si tu en as besoin. Une famille impatiente de découvrir ce qui t’attend après. Je t’adore, Riggs. À bientôt.”
